Punanga Manu o Te Anau: Te Anau Bird Sanctuary

The Te Anau Bird Sanctuary is a great place to stop in with the family on a day out in Te Anau. Free to visit, see the rare New Zealand takahe up close, and marvel at all the other beautiful native birds. Get there at 9.30am (summer) or 10.30am (winter) to catch the local DOC (Department of Conservation) ranger feeding the birds, and learn more about the different species found in Fiordland.

Kepler Track: 3-4 days, 60 kilometres

With outstanding views over Fiordland National Park, this 3-4 day walk takes you through 60 kilometres of stunning Fiordland wilderness.
