Fairlie, at the eastern entrance to the Mackenzie Country offers contrasting landscapes as the rolling hills give way to the open uplands of Mackenzie country. A museum displays the history of the town and the region. In the main street a statue stands of James Mackenzie, a 19th century sheep rustler and renowned rogue after which the region was named.
