Experience the Hole in the Rock with a Dolphin Cruise
What is the Experience?
Board the "Dolphin Seeker" to experience a half-day cruise around the beautiful Bay Of Islands and right to the end of the Cape Brett Peninsula. Designed for nature lovers, spend time cruising around in search of bottlenose dolphins, whales and other marine life.
Make sure you have your camera packed as they stop off at picturesque Urupukapuka Island. Here you get time to relax on the beach or walk to the top of the island to enjoy 360° views of this beautiful region.
Dolphin Seeker has indoor and outdoor seating available, and the largest outdoor viewing decks in the Bay of Islands. Hot and cold refreshments are available on board, and a picnic lunch can be purchased at the time of booking (or feel free to bring your own lunch).
Where is this located?
The Bay of Island is three hours from Auckland you can either self drive or take a coach. Fullers Great Sights "Dolphin Seeker" starts in both Paihia and Russell.
According to Māori legend, local warriors used to paddle through the Hole in the Rock in their canoes before departing for battle. Drops of water from the cave roof above were a good omen. If conditions permit, your skipper will expertly guide the ship through the narrow space... and if you get dripped on, consider yourself lucky.
