Over a metre of new snow at Mt Hutt!

10 August 2010: Mt Hutt ski area has received more than a metre of new snow over the past 48 hours, resulting in a snow base of almost 2.5 metres! Queenstown's Coronet Peak and The Remarkables ski areas also got good dumps with Coronet Peak adding 45cm of new snow and The Remarkables 33cm.

It's going to be a great week in Queenstown and Wanaka

21 June 2010: Queenstown and Wanaka are undoubtedly the places to be this week, with Treble Cone ski area opening for the season on Thursday, Cardrona opening on Friday, and the Queenstown Winter Festival kicking off on Friday as well. This means all the major Queenstown and Wanaka ski areas will now be open by this coming weekend, and boasting some excellent early season snow conditions.

The Remarkables opening this weekend

15 June 2010: The 2010 New Zealand ski season is now well underway, with Coronet Peak and Mt Hutt ski areas now open and boasting some great early season snow conditions. Mt Hutt ski area already has over a metre of snow and some excellent skiing and riding on trails, with more snow forecast today. Queenstown's The Remarkables ski area is set to open this Saturday, with a snow base of 80cm and some fresh snow looking likely for Thursday and Friday this week - just in time to ensure awesome conditions on opening day.

Coronet Peak opens in 4 days!

01 June 2010: The 2010 New Zealand ski season kicks off this weekend with Coronet Peak ski area opening on Saturday. Recent storms have meant the ski area now has a snow base of over half a metre, which is being supplemented daily through snowmaking. As the picture below show, conditions are looking great for opening day!
